“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” – Marilyn Monroe
Hello Dolls! A staple in my beauty bag is facial mist and with good reason. Facials mists are hydrating, cooling and can be used not only to refresh your makeup throughout the day, but to also set it (that’s why Beyoncé carries one in her bag!) Not only do I love mine in the summer when my skin gets too warm from the heat, or after a long plane ride, but also in the winter. Being indoors during winter months can truly zap your skin of moisture. I keep one at my desk and spritz throughout the day. In addition to using it on your face, they can also be used to tame fly-aways, wet your beauty blender (read our Beauty Tools post) for a dewy look or even wet your shadow brush for a more pigmented eyeshadow application. The uses are truly endless.
Mists are super easy to use – just hold the bottle about 10 inches away and spritz! The goal isn’t to drench your skin, but to add a layer of moisture.
So without further adieu, below is a list of my current top mists:
Evian – this has been around for a very long time. It comes in all different sizes – one of which just happens to be perfect for your purse. The adorable packaging looks very much like your favorite water bottle! It’s a perfect shake, spray and go. It will give you a perfect boost of hydration and cooling.
MAC – Prep + Prime Fix +: As I mentioned earlier Beyoncé carries one of these in her purse because she loves it so much. This facial mist is packed with vitamins and minerals – and let’s not forget cucumber and green tea to name a few others. It’s perfect for setting your makeup and taking away the chalkiness of powder! It now comes in many scents as well- cucumber, rose, lavender, coconut and yuzu! I keep a bottle of this on my vanity so I can use it to prime my skin prior to my foundation application, add boosting power to my eyeshadow and finally to set my make-up.
Clinique – Moisture Surge spray – this little beauty has aloe leaf water- among other things, to deliver cooling, soothing relief to the most parched of skin! If you have been out in the sun too long or your face just needs some added hydration without looking greasy – this is your pick. I keep a bottle at my desk to tame fly-aways when the heat is cranking and to boost hydration to my face.
Glossier – Soothing Face Mist – rosewater spray – This one is made with roses and aloe! It has been rumored to be one of Kim Kardashian’s favorites since it smells like roses. Recently, I find myself grabbing for this since it’s so light and the rosewater add a perfect amount of hydration and soothing. Plus it gives you just such a subtle hint of rose scent.
