Spring Is Here!!!!
It’s that time of year when I want to ditch the dark and drab of winter, break off those icicles, and embrace the brightness of spring! When I think of spring, I think of cute cotton tail bunnies, blooming flower gardens and of course – cute sandals!! My latest obsession is pastel anything. Is there any quicker “pick me up” than a freshly painted mani/pedi? I’m thinking no.
Below is a small list of my current favorite pastel colors:
OPI – Mod About You – This color is one of my favorites of all time pastel pinks. This color is extremely similar to Essie’s Fiji and CND Vinylux in Cake Pop. These colors are just so gorgeous and fun, I had to share all three. These are my current “go-to” pinks in my collection!
Essie – Find me an Oasis – This color is what I consider a true pastel blue! To be honest, I don’t normally wear many blue polishes, however; this one has captured my heart and will be a mainstay in my spring/summer collection.
Essie – Go Ginza – Even though this color is described as pink, I think it wears more like the color of a budding lilac tree. This pastel purple is simple, understated, and just downright adorable! I consider it the sweetheart of my collection.
American Apparel – Summer Peach – This color speaks for itself. It’s an opaque peach color that reminds me of creamsicle float. It’s a perfect peach color and is a must in your spring collection – I guarantee you won’t find many like it!
Just some quick tips when applying pastel paints:
- Don’t be heavy handed with the brush. Pastel paints can streak if you try to apply them with a heavy hand. Keep your strokes light – don’t press too hard.
- Do apply at least two coats of color.
- Do let each coat dry a little before you apply a second coat. Each coat does not need to dry completely, but I would give each coat about a minute before applying another coat.
- Do use a fast drying top coat. I wait two minutes after my last coat of polish to apply a quick drying top coat. I currently use Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat although there a quite a few good ones on the market right now (I will do another post on this later).
